Matai (Ruben Rivera) Bio
Born Ruben Oriol-Rivera, a modest hard working young man from Vallejo Ca. Music has been the guiding light into the life of this 25 yr. old young innovator and gifted musician. Matai brings a fresh of breath air to the music industry with his styles of music, which contain flavors of R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Latin and what Matai calls "Bayggaeton", his version adapted from "Reggaeton". When asked why he came up with Bayggaeton, Matai explains, "I'm from the Bay Area and so I found a way to add what I was doing with my English music to Reggaeton and came up with that name because I'm not your average Reggaeton artist! You can find the Reggaeton beat on several tracks from my upcoming album but to me Reggaeton doesn't have to be about that average beat you hear behind these Reggaeton artists today. It's a movement to me and an opportunity to show what I as a Bay Area artist who loves Reggaeton came up with. Music changes everyday no matter what title or category you chose to place it in and what I'm trying to do with my Bayggaeton movement is just that! I'm trying to bring something new to Reggaeton and to the people who love and listen to it. It's been working so far and just like every other new style of music that pops up, once it starts everyone wants to claim it, be a part of it and add to it with what they do! I just hope I see this movement advance in this music game and that people around the world one day learn about it!"
